Why Rema and Fireboy DML’s friendship is admirable
Rema and Fireboy DML’s friendship is admirable in a field with such animosity.
Rema and Fireboy DML are arguably amongst the biggest, most popular and most successful youthful Nigerian musicians today
Fans are the cause of 99% of beef between musicians all over the world, that’s why it is admirable and commendable that they are publicly showing love to each other.
Showing love towards each other to the extent of featuring each other is the height of preaching love to their fans and so doing can curtail the rate at which they move in comparisons.
Also, I have to admit that this new generation of musicians represents some of the most diverse and original artists the Nigerian music scene has ever produced.
Although both musicians can be categorized as Afrobeats artists, they sound very different, trap is incorporated into Rema’s music. That combo is audible.
I favour Fireboy DML’s silky highlife-like sounds and poetic lyricism, but it doesn’t mean I don’t value Rema’s highly skilled creativity.
Rema is that young person who has immersed himself so thoroughly in the distinctive genre of his generation, Trap Music, while also performing the elder generation’s Afrobeat-Juju music flawlessly.
Whether you like him or not, Rema and Fireboy DML are the newest and most promising Nigerian prospects on the global stage.
In the same way that I would never argue that Brymo is superior to Tekno or that Asa is superior to Yemi Alade, I also wouldn’t say that Fireboy DML is superior to Rema.
