    The 2010s were a turning point in the Nigerian Music Industry most especially the year 2011 where fresh talents and new sounds emerged and hit songs were released.

    In 2010, hit songs like ‘Oleku‘, ‘Mr Endowed‘, ‘Holla At Ya Boy‘ amongst others had been released and the following year being 2011, artists had to up their game.

    Sure enough, fresh talents like Wizkid, Davido, and Tiwa Savage dominated airwaves while O.Gs like D’banj, Naeto C, P-square had people dancing to their new hits.

    Fast-forward to 2021, these songs despite clocking 10 years still remain timeless classics.

    In 2011 Wizkid became a bonafide superstar with the release of his commercially successful debut album, ‘Superstar’.

    Pakuromo‘ was an instant favorite after the album hit the market and its visuals which featured Funke Akindele, Ali Baba, Banky W, Davido, B-red boosted its popularity. According to research, it was one of the most downloaded Nigerian songs in 2011.

    Ice Prince had dropped the biggest single, ‘Oleku‘ in 2010 and followed it up with a party banger, ‘Superstar‘ in 2011.

    Although Superstar didn’t have the same impact ‘Oleku‘ did on the music Industry, it was a successful hit track in 2011.

    The song was off his debut album, “Everybody Loves Ice Prince

    Davido had introduced himself to the music scene with “Back When” featuring Naeto C but it was his second release, “Dami Duro” that got attention.

    Dami Duro was released during the 4th quarter of 2011 and topped charts at the time of its release. The song was the second single off his debut album, “Omo Baba Olowo” released in 2012.

    Despite not releasing an album in 3 years at that time, D’banj managed to stay extremely relevant and 2011 was no exception.

    His release of Oliver in 2011 was a national hit. The song had its own dance challenge and became an international hit.

    The Music Video had star guest appearances like Kanye West.

    Brymo had come to the limelight with his guest appearance on Ice Prince’s ‘Oleku“. Brymo proved he knew how to down the fort on a solo with “Ara”.

    Ara was one of the lead singles off Brymo’s 2012 released ‘TheSonOfaKapenta’ which was his second album but the first under the Chocolate City Imprint.

    The Singer is a talented writer who knows how to write the right lyrics and deliver them in a manner that evokes the intended emotions.

    Naeto C, the man who made the Nigerian rap scene look cooler released his Sophomore album, Super C in 2011.

    His single, 5 & 6 caught on big time like wildfire and enjoyed a significant amount of airplay.

    Tiwa Savage – Love Me

    Tiwa Savage established herself as a force to reckon with in the Nigerian music industry back in 2010 by releasing her 1st single ‘Kele Kele‘.

    In 2011, she released Love Me 3x and solidified her position in the industry as one of the highly sought after artists in the Nigerian music industry. Love Me is a party love song that fuses Afropop and R’n’B.

    The song was off her debut album, “Once Upon a Time“.

    Back in the early 2010s, Terry G was the King of Street Jams who released hits back to hits.

    Even with allegations that he steals material, Terry G didn’t disappoint when it comes to making commercial music accepted by the majority of the general public.

    Even though his lyrics were not understood, Akpako Master became a nationwide hit in a matter of weeks after it was released.

    It even had its own dance routine.

    For a decade, the defunct music group, P-Square dominated the music industry with their Love themed songs and catchy lyrics.

    In 2011, they dropped one of their best albums, “Invasion” which produced many hit songs. ‘Chop My Money’ for some reason caught on quickly and became arguably the most popular song from the album.

    Akon was later featured in the remix.
