Essence remix- Wizkid ft Tems, Justin Bieber
Wizkid has been dominating 2021 with the OG version of “Essence” and the song even made history as the first Afrobeat song to crack Billboard Hot 100. In August he dropped a surprise remix featuring Justin Bieber which soared to the top charts within days of its release.
Justin Bieber’s vocals only made the song sweeter.
Question- Burna Boy ft Don Jazzy
Early in the year, Burna Boy and Don Jazzy had teased fans with a video of them in the studio but it wasn’t until August that fans got confirmation on their collaboration.
“Question” which has Don Jazzy on the helm of production sees Burna Boy address trolls and critics on their constant questions which he says doesn’t have answers.
Both artists deliver relatable lyrics about life in these parts over a catchy and memorable beat in this suited new collaboration.
Tiwa Savage finally dropped her highly anticipated EP, “Water and Garri” in August and it features some major collaborations from Nas and Brandy.
For this list, we would be going for the melodious uptempo ‘Somebody’s Son” featuring Brandy. The two enthralling divas sing about being loved one day by Somebody’s son.
Lie- Kizz Daniel
Kizz Daniel has been low key for a while, especially since he recently joined the Fatherhood League, but his songs continue to speak for him.
On his third single of the year, Kizz Daniel praises his woman and how much interest he has in her.
“Lie” is another beautifully crafted song from Kizz Daniel’s well of perfection, with the only flaw being that it ends.
Let me Know- Mayorkun
Mayorkun who ruled the waves in 2020 made his grand entry in 2021 with the smooth mid-tempo ‘Let me Know.” In the song, Mayorkun brags to do ‘wetin Dangote can’t do’ for his lover.
The song is the first release from the singer for the year who has hinted at releasing his sophomore album this year.

Oxlade is scared of falling in Love on “Ojuju.” The song which is the lead single from his recently released EP, “Eclipse” is a smooth mid-tempo song that shows Oxlade at his vulnerable and raw moment.
Fashion Killer- Ayra Starr
Mavin Act, Ayra Starr dropped her debut album, ‘19 & Dangerous” which is a cacophony of raw emotions about being a young adult. Our favourite from the album is the energetic “Fashion Killer.”
From the beginning to the end, “Fashion Killer” has this hypnotizing feel that makes you want to put in on replay.
Drug Test- Naira Marley
Still riding on the success of his “Coming” song, Naira Marley dished out another banger “Drug Test” for his fans. “Drug Test‘ has all the trademark Naira Marley’s lines and style that is bound to have one dancing.
The south African Subgenre, Amapiano sound has been dominating the Nigerian Music Industry for a while. While a lot of Afrobeat Artists have jumped on it, Fuji star, it was a surprise to see Fuji Star, Pasuma jump it also.
Pasuma does a wonderful job of fusing Fuji and Amapiano on this song showcasing that Fuji is so broad to be boxed.
