Nigerian most anticipated albums of 2022 that are likely to cause a problem
The year 2022 feels like a lot of music already and here are the most anticipated Nigerian albums of 2022 that are likely to cause problems.
A whole lot of it, Quite a number of ‘valuable’ artists have already announced their intention to release a project this year. And the streets are patiently waiting for the influx to begin.
Quickly, from Wizkid to Omah Lay, here are the most anticipated albums of this year, in no particular order.
The most anticipated Nigerian albums of 2022
1. WizKid — “More Love, Less Ego”
It’s only right that many people are awaiting Wizkid’s next project which some sources have claimed might be an EP that’ll resemble his 2019 “Soundman Vol. 1.”
“More Love, Less Ego” will be the direct follow-up to his “Made in Lagos,” so it’s going to be a very important one.
2. Omah Lay — “Boy Alone”
Omah Lay‘s been here for, what, two years? His consistency has been made since.
He’s had the two hottest songs in the country for two years in a row (“Bad Influence,” “Godly”) and he has released two EP’s already, edging most of his peers in numbers and influence.
His debut album is what some will say is long overdue.
The album will be called “Boy Alone” and is expected to feature WizKid among other artists.
The first single of the album might be the hit track “Understand” that Omah Lay put out it last year.
3. Rema — “Rave and Roses”
Like Omah Lay, Rema‘s debut album is long overdue. It seems like they’re taking their time on this time one.
“Rave and Roses,” is supposed to be his first project since 2020’s “Rema Compilation.” There has been a couple of singles released (“Soundgasm,” “Bounce,” “Peace of Mind”), so he should hit the ground running.
4. Adekunle Gold — “Catch Me If You Can”
Adekunle Gold‘s fourth album is going to be one of the best of 2022. He’s been doing all right since his “Afro-Pop Vol. 1” in 2020 and he had a good year in 2021 too releasing mad singles like “Sinner” and “It Is What It Is.”
“Catch Me If You Can” is expected to be predominantly afro-pop like his last album and if one thing’s sure it is that Adekunle will deliver.
5. Kizz Daniel — “Afro Classic”
Kizz Daniel has never dropped an average album. Even though his last LP went under the radar quicker than he’d have liked, Kizz has managed to get back his relevance with the trendy “Barnabas” EP.
Well, his next album is coming and it’s going to be called “Afro Classic.” Whether it’s gonna be a real classic or not, remains to be seen.
YBNL superstar Fireboy DML has dropped the latest update, which many of his fans and followers will be excited about.
This comes as the YBNL singer recently took to his social media to hint at a new album he is working on. To add more flavour to it, Fireboy told his fans to expect a feature from the legendary Asa on the album.
Fireboy dropped his debut album titled “Laughter, Tears, and Goosebumps“ released in 2019 and then a second album titled ‘Apollo‘ in 2020.
His third album, which is expected to drop this year, will make him go the way of his label boss Olamide who is famous for dropping an album every year
