American singer, Selena Gomez shared a video on Instagram, explaining her absence from social media
Selena Gomez shared her opinions about current world happenings, saying that she took a brief hiatus from social media because she didn’t want to be insensitive.
According to the Rare singer, she didn’t want to rub her successes in the face of people who are going through painful times, due to the pandemic.
“It felt a little insensitive to post things that may be a little joyful or celebratory, it was really hard for me. I‘ve taken the time to learn, truly learn about what’s going on and I continue to make that my priority,” she said.

With over 100 million followers on Instagram, Selena is the leading female artist with the highest number of followers on the social platform.
Gomez celebrated her 28th birthday recently. She stayed away from social media for a few hours before coming back online to say thank you to her fans, for the birthday wishes she received.
Selena Gomez used her social media platforms, particularly Instagram, to support the #blacklivesmatter movement, during the heat of the #JusticeforGeorgeFloyd protest.
Black people, and black owned businesses posted directly from her platform, lending their voice to the call for equal rights.
