Bright Nicholas, a member of Patoranking’s band, passed away in Portugal after their AfroNation performance.
The keyboardist died on Monday, following a performance outside of Nigeria. We were informed of Bright’s death on Wednesday; he was in his 30s and married.
Bright and the crew played at Afro Nation Portugal 2022 alongside Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, better known by his stage name Patoranking
The event took place at the Praia da Rocha beach, Portimão, Algarve from July 1 to 3.

The deceased played keyboard at Harvesters International Christian Centre, Gbagada, Lagos.
According to a source, he joined Patoranking’s band some years ago and has travelled with him both within and beyond the nation.
The source shared screenshots of the WhatsApp status of friends who posted Bright’s photos with different solemn captions.
“We heard that he vomited blood before he died, though this is still unconfirmed. We were also told that an autopsy will be carried out.
“Persons who knew him are in a mourning mood, he was a very talented instrumentalist. It’s sad news.”
