Marlian President Naira Marley has been taken to the Lagos State Special Offences Court at Ikeja over the controversial Abuja concert.
According to a report by The Punch, the police had filed charges against Naira Marley for violating the COVID-19 order banning interstate travels earlier put in place to curb the spread of coronavirus.
Recall that Naira Marley left Lagos for the Federal Capital territory for a concert on Saturday, July 13.
The concert which was held at the Jabi Lake Mall drew public outrage as attendees flouted COVID-19 safety rules.
The Government shut the mall and the suspended the operation of the plane that chartered him and his crew to Abuja.
The Inspector-General of Police was said to have ordered his arrest. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana said that Naira Marley presented himself at the command headquarters on Thursday.
“We are in court as we speak. He will be arraigned for violating the interstate travel order. That is the aspect that concerns Lagos State,” he added.
