Ghanaian afrobeats singer-songwriter Dennis Nana Dwamena, better known as KiDi, has revealed how his mother helped him to discover his path in the music industry.

The Ghanaian singer has credited his mother, Madam Beatrice Thompson, with helping him achieve some of his musical successes.

The sensational singer made this known In a Twitter Space interview with @OleleSalvador, he discloses how his mother used to play his songs to help him figure out and choose the direction he should take in his musical career.

KiDi revealed that his mother used to play him songs from the Nigerian star, Banky W, telling him those are the kind of songs he should be focusing his attention on just to perfect his craft as a musician.

The “Touch It” hitmaker continued by saying that he took inspiration from some of the biggest names in music, including 2Baba and the legendary P-Square, both had R&B backgrounds but combined those with their native sounds to create songs that sounded cohesive.

He said blending Ghanaian and R&B sounds together cost him his Twitter fan base, and at one point he became afraid of receiving abuse from his fans for changing his musical style.

Then, he had to give up his Twitter fans in order to make the entire world rock to his music, and over time, he hoped that his Twitter following would grow to love his new genre of music.
