OBO dished out this information during a session US on DJ Whoo Kid’s Whoolywood Shuffle Radio Show.
His appearance on the show is part of his 26th February press round in the US.
Discussing about his new plans as regards the US music industry, he highlighted that Fall’s success came at a time when he had lost interest in gaining fame in the US.
He said: ‘Honestly when I tried to cross to the American market, it didn’t work, when I didn’t try, it worked.” he said. When asked how long he had been trying, he replied, ”I am 26 right now, my first single in the game [Back When] was when I was 17, so I have been big and the thing about Africa is when you are big in Africa, you are big all over the world.
“Mainstream wise, I did my first show in New York, 4,000 people, when I was just 20, but it was basically attended by Africans who were following my music on the internet.”
The lover also did not fail to talk about his beautiful girlfriend, Chioma.
He said: “I have a girlfriend but not engaged, we have been together for five years.”
OBO also made mention of his deal with Sony RCA. He disclosed that he wasn’t comfortable with the kind of music the company wanted him to make. Hence his return to Africa.
Recall that Davido just released a remix of Fall with Busta Rhymes and Prayah.
Davido has been making waves since the beginning of the year. He has just been nominated for Nickelodeon’s Kid’s Choice Award for Global Act category.
He also sold out all tickets for his London O2 Arena Concert in January.
