Chukwuka Ekweani, better known by his stage as CKay, has once again made history by having his songs top Spotify’s Most-Streamed Nigerian songs list.

Nwantiti, the artist’s top-charting single from 2019, recently reached its pinnacle position on Spotify worldwide.

With a total of 537 million streams, it is the most-streamed Nigerian song on the streaming service.

CKay responded to the news on Twitter, thanking everyone involved and announcing the impending release of his album.

He posted a screenshot of the Spotify streaming chat, showing that Nwantiti’s remix had received 427 million streams overall, placing it second.

The third song on the chart is Burna Boyโ€™s 2018 song, On the Low with a total of 169 million.

Ckay’s “ Nwantiti North African” remix (117M streams) placed No 7 on the list and his 2022 song, “Emiliana” (107M) placed No. 9.

In other news, Ckayย has declared that he opposes the notion of artists boasting about being superior to their contemporaries.

He claimed that if all Nigerian musicians worked together to promote one another rather than making comparisons, they would all advance in their careers more.

In a recent interview with VICE, CKay made this claim when discussing his music, the effect of Afrobeats, and its growth over the world.

According to The โ€˜ Nwantitiโ€™ crooner, the genre is the new pop, and the culture can expand to become even more than it is already, much like how Hip Hop culture did.
