Due to a knee injury, Hugo Lloris may be out of play for the next eight weeks.

The Tottenham captain sustained the problem during their hard-earned 1-0 win at home to champions Manchester City on Sunday.

Spurs‘ struggling season appeared to get a boost from the victory, but this injury has handed them a big blow.

Since Lloris will be sidelined for the next six to eight weeks, he will be unable to play in numerous important matches, including both legs of their matchup with Milan in the UEFA last 16. They are now one point outside of the top four in the Premier League.

The Frenchman has not had the greatest of club seasons, having committed a league-high four errors that resulted in goals, most notably handing Arsenal the first goal in the north London derby defeat in January.

Lloris is anticipated to be replaced in the starting lineup by Fraser Forster, a summer signing for Tottenham who has only played one game so far—the 2-2 draw at Brentford on Day.

Spurs have been looking long and hard at their alternatives for a long-term successor for Lloris in the summer. Among their sights, according to reports, are Everton’s Jordan Pickford, Robert Sanchez of , and David Raya of Brentford.
