Newcastle United and have reached an agreement about a transfer for midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, and Nottingham is now close to making the signing.

After Chris Wood’s loan arrival from Newcastle earlier this month, Steve Cooper’s team is eager to add the former England international.

Shelvey will have a medical later today and then sign a two-and-a-half-year contract at the City Ground.

In order to fill the void left by Ryan Yates and Cheikhou Kouyate’s absence, Forest has signed the former Liverpool player.

Steve Cooper’s team made a move for Shelvey because his contract at St James’ Park was set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

The 30-year-old has only played three times in the Premier League for the Magpies this season after being passed over at the Tyneside club.

On top of Shelvey and Wood, Forest have also added Brazilian pair Danilo and Gustavo Scarpa and are also chasing a goalkeeper, a centre-back and a winger before Tuesday’s deadline.

Forest are interested in signing Felipe from Atletico Madrid and have inquired about defender Romain Saiss from .

Felipe, a former Porto center back, joined Atletico Madrid in 2019 and has played 85 times for the La Liga team.

In an effort to add Felipe to their long list of new additions since making their first return to the Premier League in more than 20 years, Forest have initiated their own negotiations with the Spanish club.

To fill in for the injured , who is on loan from Manchester United, they have been looking at a loan deal for Paris St. Germain goalkeeper Keylor Navas.
