Chelsea set to renew Enzo Fernandez transfer pursuit
Chelsea set to reignite Enzo Fernandez transfer pursuit before end of January window.
Chelsea FC look set to rekindle their interest in Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez before the January transfer window closes.
Chelsea are set to reignite their interest in World Cup winner Fernandez having failed to agree a deal to sign him from Benfica earlier in the month, according to The Guardian. The report states that the Blues will move back in for the midfielder, whose contract contains a £106 million release clause.
Fernandez was a breakout sensation for La Albiceleste as they won the World Cup in 2022, and he was voted Young Player of the Tournament for his efforts.
Even though Fernandez has “repeatedly” informed Benfica that he wants to join Chelsea, the report claims that the Portuguese club is still unwilling to sell for less than his release clause and wants to hold him through the end of the current season.

Chelsea, which is mired in the middle of the Premier League standings, has spent every penny in an effort to strengthen their team in January. Even accomplished agreements for players like Joao Felix, Benoit Badiashile, Noni Madueke, and more, and they managed to beat Arsenal to the signing of Mykhailo Mudryk in a high-profile move.
However, Graham Potter is navigating the middle of the park through an injury crisis, so their midfield region is still a problem.
After an already eventful month, Chelsea look braced for a chaotic end to the transfer window. On the pitch, Potter’s side now enjoy a rare rest following a draw with Liverpool. They don’t face Fulham until February 3.
