TG Omori slams Soundcity for not crediting video directors in award nomination list

The renowned video filmmaker TG Omori blasted Soundcity for not giving video directors credit for their work in the Best Video category of the Soundcity nominations.

Sound City recently published the nomination list for the 2023 SoundCity awards.

On the list of songs in the video category, the artist names and images were utilised rather than those of the video directors.

This move did not sit well with TG Omori, who expressed his displeasure on his Instagram account.

On Sunday, January 22, 2023, TG Omori criticised SoundCity on his Instagram story for only giving credit to the performers and not the video directors of the nominated videos.

According to TG, the conduct was insulting, particularly given that SoundCity is TV channel whose core programming is music videos.

The top director demanded that the error be fixed and that the video directors receive their just rewards in only one category in which they are nominated.

In his words;

“Is bad enough that directors don’t get recognitions for the director of the year but putting out video of the year without crediting the director is mess and disrespect to the sleepless nights and creativity we contribute to he culture. @Soundcityafrica this isn’t it.

It’s understandable if it’s recording award body but for tv station that lives on music videos to downplay the efforts of music video directors, it’s a shame.

And yeah I got 3 nominations in 1 category so I’m not tripping but that directors disrespect has to stop. If you wanna do something do it right. @SoundCityafriica fix up that shiii now.”

After netizen reacted to his complaint by bringing up his expensive fees, TG wrote;

“More reason why @Soundcityafrica have to fix up cos the average Nigerian thinks payment is everything. I really don’t blame this one. He’s just hungry”
