Chelsea boss Graham Potter has given his assessment of his team’s loss against Manchester City on Thursday night.

Mason Mount picked up a knock before the game and was forced to withdraw, which was bad for the Blues.

Then, shortly after the game began, was substituted due to an injury, and 20 minutes later, Christian Pulisic was forced from the game due to an injury.

Despite the defeats, Chelsea looked strong and had most of the first half under until substitute Carney Chukwuemeka hit the post.

It was not to be, though, as Riyad Mahrez scored the game- goal for Man City, and Potter’s team lost.

The Blues manager acknowledged to the media that, despite losing, he was pleased with his team’s effort.

“When you consider everything losing Raheem and Christian so early, the lads gave everything,” he said. “It was a spirited performance against a top team, so apart from the result I’m proud of the players.”

Potter continued to reveal the he believed cost his side a point in the match.

He continued: “I thought we committed too many men too high to press them and that opened us up and then you have to credit their quality.

“In any goal you feel you can do a little bit better but you have to credit Man City.”

When Chelsea plays Guaridola’s team in the FA Cup this weekend at the Etihad, they will have the chance to exact revenge on the Citizens.
