Liverpool have reached an agreement deal to sign top Manchester United target Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven, the Eredivisie club have confirmed.
The Eredivisie side were resigned to losing Gakpo in January after a brilliant World Cup with United holding an interest since the summer.
A statement from the Dutch Eredivisie side read: “PSV and Liverpool FC have reached an agreement on the proposed transfer of Cody Gakpo.
“The 23-year-old attacker will immediately leave for England and he will be subjected to the necessary formalities ahead of the completion of the transfer.
“Both clubs are not making any announcements about the transfer fee. ‘But this is a record transfer for PSV,’ said general manager Marcel Brands.
“The PSV management completed the negotiations on Boxing Day and gave Gakpo permission to travel to England.”

Gakpo had a strong World Cup, scoring three goals in five games to help his nation advance to the quarterfinals. This sale would set a club record for PSV.
Gakpo has also been a target for Manchester United and Chelsea, but Liverpool is now in a strong position to land one of the most sought-after players in Europe.
This season, Gakpo has scored 35 goals and assists for PSV and the Dutch national team, continuing his impressive form from 2021–2022.
On the final day of the transfer window last summer, Leeds United sent their director of football Victor Orta to seal the deal on the acquisition of Gakpo.
The attacker, though, stayed at PSV, and his reputation has improved since then.
