A remix is the advanced version of a song that usually has a guest artist featured on it.
It is expected that the remix must always be better than the original and while some failed at reaching this expectation, there are some on the other who did better to the point of overwhelming the original.
So, here the top Naija remixes that were better than the original;
Patoranking ft Tiwa Savage – Girlie O
When Patoranking broke into the music scene with “Girlie O” in 2014, he began the talk of the town but it was the remix in which he featured Tiwa Savage that catapulted him.
Tiwa Savage flawlessly delivered her lines and held her weight on the song with her seductive voice. Her entrance into the song was beautiful. The two had a chemistry that was interesting to see.
Naira Marley ft Olamide, Lil Kesh, Simi, Falz, Slimcase – Issa Goal
Naira Marley’s initial success in the music industry stemmed from the song “Issa Goal” in which he featured Olamide and Lil Kesh.
The song received massive airplay that it became the theme song for the Super Eagles at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The official remix of “Issa Goal” was released on 16 June 2018; it features vocals by Olamide, Lil Kesh, Falz, Simi, and Slimcase. The remix was better as it saw Simi and Falz jump on the Shaku Shaku trend that was taking over the scene back then.
Flavour ft Tiwa Savage – Oyi
Flavour is known for his amazing delivery on new school highlife and the singer knows how to charm the ladies with his soothing voice and sweet songs. “Oyi” is one of those. While the original did fairly well it was, however, the remix that had the most spotlight.
Featuring Tiwa Savage with her blend of Afro and R’n’B, the song went from sounding cliche to becoming one of Nigeria’s best love songs.
D’banj ft Snoop Dogg – Mr Endowned
“Mr Endowned” was just one of D’banj’s normal hit songs as former Mo’hits act was dominating the industry during that period. He was reeling in the success of his “The Entertainer” album.
However, when he released “Mr Endowed” featuring American rapper, Snoop Dogg, he took the bar a whole lot higher. The song was produced by iconic music producer, Don Jazzy who continues to be a legend in the music industry.
P-Square ft Weird MC – Busybody
Former Music duo, P-square gave us some of the best hits that rocked Nigeria’s airwaves when they were still together. Their breakout song, “Busybody” brought attention their way but it was the remix featuring Weird MC that brought the spotlight.
The remix had an upgrade from the beat to lyrics, there was a vast difference between the two. The remix turned out to be better than the original.
