Battle of Hits/Verzuz is basically a battle between two artists in the same genre who pits ten of their best songs against each other.

It all began with American producers, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz having producers clash and from there it spiraled into an entertainment program that would see artists like Nelly, Snoop Dogg, DMX, Brandy, Monica, Teddy Riley, Babyface participating in the event.

In Nigeria, Artists and Producers weren’t left out of this. Sarz and Shizzi battled each other resulting in reactions from Social Media. This also led to more battle of hits like Mastercraft VS Pheelz, Rexxie VS Kel P, M.I Abaga VS Naeto C.

While the Battle of Hits wave has died down a bit in Nigeria, Mp3bullet.ng have put together a list of Artists we would love to see participate in this.

    Wizkid vs Davido

This battle should it happen will shut the Internet. For years, Wizkid and Davido have been compared so many times that one can count.

At some point, these two artists engaged in a battle of words before reconciling. While much isn’t certain about the relationship between them, a battle of hits seems like a far fetched dream. But one can dream, right?

    D’banj vs 2Baba

D’banj and 2Baba are icons in their own ways. These two have produced hit songs way before Wizkid and Davido became popular. They contributed to what we know as Afropop.

They would need to do more than 20 songs as they have enough hit songs we can’t get enough of.

    Omawumi vs Waje

Omawumi and Waje are both vocal powerhouses in their own right. These two queens can decide to sing new songs and we won’t mind.

Omawumi gave us hits like ‘If you ask me’, ‘In the music’, ‘Bottom Belle’ amongst others. WHile Waje serenaded us with hits like ‘Mountain’, ‘I Wish’, ‘Onye’, ‘Na the Way’ amongst others.

    P-Square vs Styl Plus

They might have been from different generations but these two groups had us falling in love with their songs.

Styl Plus was Nigeria’s own Backstreet boys with hit songs like “Imagine That’, “Runaway”, “Olufummi”, “Call My Name”, “Four Years”, “Drive me Crazy” amongst others.

P-Square was the advanced version of Styl Plus but with an Afropop direction. They gave us hits like “beautiful Onyinye”, “Personally”, “Do Me”, “No One like You”, “Chop My Money”, Forever” amongst others.

    Yemi Alade vs Tiwa Savage

Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage are the female versions of Davido and Wizkid. These two have been compared, pitted against on so many occasions.

They performed together at Tiwa Savage’s concert in 2019 but it didn’t stop the comparisons.
