Local Rappers ft Olamide, Phyno
There came a time when there were perceived bad blood between English rappers/ Hip Hop purists and Indigenous rappers over who were the custodians of Hip-Hop in Nigeria, Reminisce fanned the rumors with the release of “Local rappers“.
The song which was off his third studio album, Baba Hafusa features fellow indigenous rappers, Olamide and Phyno.
While Reminisce and others might argue that the song wasn’t meant as a diss song to English Rappers, it was hard for fans to believe this as part of the lyrics says that wordplay and punch lines are no longer in demand; rather, rap in the local language is the fans favorite.
The song also pointed out how indigenous rappers are enjoying the good life, getting the shows ahead of hardcore rappers.
